The Scottish Archive Network Knowledge
Base is a database of answers to questions frequently asked
in Scottish archives, combined with a directory of where to
find historical records - arranged geographically. This facility
is developing all the time and will build into a major research
resource for all types of archive users, from complete beginners
to regular researchers, with contributions from our participating
archives.
The Knowledge Base is arranged into
two sections:
record types and subjects (including people).
The SCAN Gazetteer, formerly accessible on this site, has been superseded by a much more comprehensive gazetteer on the ScotlandsPlaces website.
