The Present Ministers of Orkney, with their stipends & Revenues.
Their are in this Countrey eighteen Ministers of the
Blessed Gospell, qroff some have one , some tuo some three kirks, in
which the People are edified by ye holie ordinances: all of them men
of Great Pietie, verie Loyall in their principalls and Observant off
the duties of their pastorall employment. Their namesand rents are
as followeth. Vizt.

1. Alexander Pitcairn Dean minister of the
united kirks of Southronalsha and Burra : his stipend is 200 merks peyed
be the king.
2. William Dalgarno minister of the united
kirks of Waas & Flotta: his stipend is ane hundreth merks and twentie
eight meils of malt, peyed be the Bishop. Item 28 meils malt peyed
be Melsetter. Item 50 merks fir the viccarrage & 20 pound for Flotta
beside his Gleeb.
3. James Strachan, minister of the united
kirks of Hoy & Graimsa: his stipend is 180 m of bear (being equivalent
to 90 m of malt) payed out of yd Superiour duty of yd sd Ille of Hoy
& 6 bar: butt: payed by the chamberlin of ye Bishiprick at Kirkll.
4. James Wallace Minister of Kirkwall his
stipend is 224 pound, on Barrell of Butter, and three Last of malt peyed
be the Bishop: Item one meil of malt from Robert pottingers airs. Item
out of ye Prebendrie of St John, ten meils malt, one meill meall &
twentie merk of money, Beside his Gleeb.

Reader of Kirkwall his stipend is twelve meills of malt and six
Barrell of Butter, peyed by the Bishop: Besyde the viccarages of the
parish.

6. John Shilps minister of the united kirks
of Deirnes and St Andrews: his stipend is 400 merks money peyed be the
king. Item money peyed out of the prebendrie
off St Marie: Besyde tuo Gleebs and the viccarages of both parishes.
7. George Tod minister of Ham: his stipend
is thrat last thretteen meils of malt, and six Barrell of Butter peyed
be the Bishop: Besyde a Gleeg and the viccarages of the parish.
8. John Henrie minister of Orphir: his stipend
is three Last and a half of malt and six Barrell of Butter, peyed be
the Bishop: Besyde a Gleeb. [in different hand} and 50 merks of money
in lieu of the viccarages payed by Mr Rob: Honyman
9. James Nisbet minister of the united kirks
of Sandwick and Stromness: his stipend is three Last and a half of malt
and Six Barrell of Butter peyed be the Bishop.
10 William Davidson Archdeacon minister off
the united kirks of Birsa and Harra: his stipend is 400 merks peyed
be the king besyde the Bleebs and viccarages of the said perrishes.

off Evie and Rendall: his stipend is 300 merk peyed be the king, Item
20 pound oout of wid wick Besyde tuo Gleebs & the viccarages of
both parishes & of Gairsa.
12 George Spence, minister of the united kirks
of firth & Stennes: his stipend is 300 mark peyed be the Bishop.
Besyde tuo Gleebs and the viccarages of both parishes.
13 Thomas Mckenzie minister of Shapinsha:
his stipend is 3 Last of malt, six Barrell of Butter peyed be the Bishop.
Besyde his gleeb & viccargaes of ye parish.
14 John Wilson Treasurer minister of the united
kirks of Stronsa faira & Eda: his stipend is 200 merks peyed be
the king.
15 Thomas Lyell chancellor minister of Ladie
kirk in Sanda: he heth eight chalder of Bear on the Bear pundler and
twentie meills of meall peyed out of the parsonage teiths, be the parishioneirs
besyde a Gleeb and the viccarages of the parish.

of Crosskirk Burnes & Northronalsha: his stipend is, 300 merk peyed
be the king: Item - mark peyed by newark fur the parsonage teiths of
Crossj=kirk Item ane hundreth mark & six meils of meall peyed out
of Northronalsha: Besyde four Gleebs and the viccarage teiths of his
parishes.
17 James Hart Parson of Westra: hes 300 lb
scotts peyed be the king and ane half meill of bear of earth beat in
the parish as also as much bear peyed by the tennants as will amount
till a last of malt.
18 John Graham minister of the united kirks
of Rousa, Eglesha, Wyre & Inhallo: his stipend is 300 merk peyed
be the king: Item tuo Gleebs and the viccarage teiths of these four
Iles.
