The Montrose Women's Business & Professional
Club grew from a meeting of interested business
and professional women held in the Park Hotel
on the 30th September 1948.
During the key note speech given by Mr Duncan
Fraser in September of 1948 he briefly mentions
the diverse interests and experiences of the
members and their ability to contribute something
beneficial to the community before going on
to talk about the aims of the club.
The Club's aims were to promote a society of
sexual equality in which women took an active
part in decision making at all levels. Promoting
the role of women in education and training
as well as their participation in local councils
and committees was also important goals.
